ASCS started way back in the 1980’s when the FEMA was still in it’s infancy and commerce students were only a few. But still the need for unity and representation was felt among commerce students, mainly in having a ‘say’ in the direction of the FEMA - and that is when ASCS was born. The mission and objectives enacted that day, although changed in words, are still fundamentally the same as today’s.
Unfortunately, after a successful start, ASCS declined a little over the decade, but was revived again in the 1990’s. Interestingly, one of its committee members at the time was Mr. Gordon Cardona, which today lectures in economics at University. During that period, ASCS was particularly successful, organising activities and seminars on a broader scale. In fact, one particular seminar was organised on a nationwide scale with a huge number of people attending including heads of state and other dignitaries.
After this successful revival, alas, ASCS declined once again. It was again revived a couple of years ago, mainly in 2000 and continued to grow again over these two years - where a new logo and motto i.e. Il- Munitu were adopted.
